Function of the new QC and PDF buttons The new button,QC, is for easy retrieving of QC/Test strains, and the PDFs for retrieving pdf files. If the pdf file does not pop up, your settings have blocked them. Help searching for bacterial strains - and also for habitat or a diagnosis The search engine accepts any search term(s), multiple operators, wildcards and parentheses Example 1. Salmonella and Typhimurium AND (reference or test or type) Example 2. (Escherichia coli) and O157 AND H7 and ATCC Example 3. NCTC 1 Do not search for 'CCUG 189' - use '189'.  For equivalent strain numbers you may use 'CIP 107222' or '107222' You may search for VT, or VT1, but VT1- will give both VT1- and VT1+ strains Please avoid the character '#'  You may search for a host (dog) or for a diagnosis (endocarditis). If you sort 'order by taxon' you will have an overview. Tags # = a restriction - the record will explain the limitation or problem ! = the strain is hazardous, classified in group 3 - thus unavailable T = type strain Q = considered a reliable reference since sequenced Searching for type strains of a genus: Corynebacterium AND T (You may then use a SORT function and PRINT which will enable you to copy, paste and edit the list.) If you need strains for Quality Control purposes, search for 'RQCS' (= Recommended Quality Control Strain) Back to first page
